Slide 4

End users report much higher rates of spyware infections than do the IT pros who support them—a finding that likely points to end users underreporting incidents to IT support staff. Of the 537 end-user respondents:

• 26 percent said they had experienced spyware infection in the last six months
• 45 percent reported experiencing multiple spyware infections in the last six months

In addition, the results from the end-user survey showed:

• The average spyware sufferer reported 2.15 infections in the last six months
• An average of 55 incidents per 100 users were reported in the last six months
• Some "repeat offenders" reported 10 or more infections in the last six months
